Our PORL
As part of the Faculty of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, we are located at Room 2-108 2nd floor of the Katz Group Centre. We study the interactions of drugs and peptide biologics with the musculo-skeletal (MSK) connective tissues of the body, particularly the bones and joints. Our areas of current research include Arthritis, Osteoporosis, Bone Mineral Density Imaging, and Drug Discovery to treat these varying Bone conditions, including research on bone cancer.
PORL has successfully established Edmonton’s first “in-vivo” micro-CT Imaging Suite at the University of Alberta, to non-invasively quantify bone and mineral adaptations after pharmace-utical, orthopaedic, orthodontic and biomedical interventions. Our imaging facility is resident in the Katz Group Centre for Pharmacy & Health Research in the U of A campus.
