Rene completed his Bachelor's degree in pharmacy at the University of Alberta in 1998 and his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Toronto in 2010. He has worked as a clinical pharmacist in a variety of areas at the University of Alberta Hospital, including pediatrics, cardiology and anticoagulation. His current clinical practice is with the Northern Alberta Renal Program (NARP) in the Renal Insufficiency Clinic at the University of Alberta Hospital. As a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Faculty, Rene coordinates and teaches in the Lab Values, Urology, Nephrology module, in addition to teaching in various other modules throughout the curriculum.

Kirsten is a Clinical Practice Leader for the AHS Ambulatory Pharmacists in the Edmonton area. Her current clinical practice is in the AH Owen Stroke Prevention Clinic at the University of Alberta Hospital. She has also practiced in the areas of anticoagulation management, cardiovascular surgery and emergency, and utilized her advanced prescribing while managing the risk factors of stroke patients in the Prevention study. Kirsten's interest in thyroid disease stems from her own personal experience and the management of ambulatory patients with the disease.

Christine is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Alberta and teaches interpretation of lab values and anemia in the undergraduate curriculum. In addition, Dr. Hughes is a Clinical Pharmacotherapy Practitioner, HIV, with Regional Pharmacy, Alberta Health Services. She has precepted undergraduate students, residents, and PharmD students.
Chris Graduated from the University of Alberta in 2001. He has obtained his Certified Geriatric Pharmacist Designation, is also a Certified Diabetes Educator, and a Certified Asthma Educator. He is also certified for injections, and continues to run Flu Clinics throughout the Flu Season. Chris currently varies his practice, managing Halls Pharmacy, specializing in Long-Term and Geriatric Care, and part time in a retail environment with Shoppers Drug Mart. He continues to work with the Faculty of Pharmacy as a Lab Facilitator when time allows.
His current practice setting has allowed for a wide array of activities, including direct primary care, involvement in interdisciplinary care teams developing and implementing regional and facility based policies in regards to drug distribution, diabetes management, and therapeutic drug monitoring. Through ongoing drug and disease state management, Chris has been able to deliver a high standard of pharmaceutical care, and optimizing patient outcomes, often utilizing laboratory values as a significant portion of his assessment. Chris now routinely orders lab values in his practice.

Ann is the Director of Experiential Education with the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Alberta. Her clinical practice is with the Hypertension Clinic at the University of Alberta Hospital and she teaches hypertension in the undergraduate curriculum. Ann is actively involved with the profession through the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists, the Canadian Hypertension Education Program and the Canadian Cardiovascular Pharmacists Network.
Pharmacists from various practice settings will be course facilitators.
